Well I mean you didn't have to be so rude to him about it but yeah, I am an adult and not a NEET and I play vidya and eat ice cream all the damn time and I can buy and eat as much capn crunch whenever the fuck I damn well please and stay up late because guess what, I'm an adult now and I can make up all my own rules.
But don't be so harsh on him mate. Reading between the lines it probably is because as a NEET, which is where we've all been before, you get way more self conscious about wasting time and playing childish things and being a general manchild. When you're in college or working all the time you clearly don't give a fuck because those reasons.
It's all about trying to find the balance and NEETdom makes you feel incredibly unbalanced in terms of times wasted and your own internalized self concept of being a failure or like a child and so playing a game like idk Mario Cart just really pushes that point home to that terrifying furry NEET weeb whatever it was mindfuck video I saw posted many years ago in a webm thread.
Of course at the same time I guess it's just generally easier to rationalize wasting your life by claiming to yourself that some game is teaching you about history or making you better at analytical decisions or something.
I will say this though I at one point literally relied on certain specific types of vidya to try and heal my brain from getting brain damaged from something and between that and time I feel like it pretty much worked by exercising it. Being exposed to, but not learning, foreign languages also minorly helped.
